The Story

What’s Going Dark Anyway?

It can happen out of nowhere. It may not take much, although usually it’s the result of a series of triggers that we’ve chosen to ignore or rationalize: stuffing down the very feelings they bring up in us because either we weren’t ready to deal with them, didn’t know how, or couldn’t be bothered.

But it will happen. There’s no way it won’t. We’re here for our growth and evolution. We’re here to see this through.

The problem is that many of us feel unsupported. Our lack of experience in dealing with our emotions makes us unprepared to deal with ourselves and our feelings. So we fear Going Dark because we fear we may not survive.

But it is possible, and quite necessary. Taking the first step into actual spiritual adulthood (embarking on the process that brings us into greater knowing and personal development) demands that we take stock of ourselves by going inside. And going inside is the greatest challenge because we are forced to see and accept everything we are and have experienced. The good, the bad and the ugly.

At least that’s how we see it. The larger picture is that it’s all good because it was for our growth. We couldn’t come into the light without experiencing the dark. It’s that simple.
