Practical Lesson.
The Emotional Point.
Our emotional range is very limited. However, in reality, emotions can feel very complex and often have many different layers.
Our emotions are telling us everything we need to know about our state of being and where our fears are. They are not who we are, rather they are merely indicators of where we feel healed and where further attention needs to be paid.
Once we give ourselves the space to let our emotions tell us how we truly feel, they are then able to leave us, because their job is done.
Emotions are transitory. Whether joy or pain, the emotion itself is fleeting because it is based within a moment in time. They are meant to pass through us, like a wave, and dissipate once acknowledged. In fact, the only emotions that stick around are the difficult ones and they only do so because we are running away from them: they have to grow louder and last longer to be heard.
This reminds us that we are not our emotions. We can feel them but we do not have to embody them, nor do we have to let them define us. They are just a barometer of where we are at.
